Anif Kirtag

The Anif Kirtag is almost considered a secret public holiday. Traditionally, it takes place every year on the first weekend in August. The focus of this festival is on customs and traditions.

A Modern Summer Night’s Fairytale
Visitors are taken on a musical journey of a very special kind. From live music and a kids’ disco with a DJ to Walter Bankhammer & die Niederalmer, the Kirtag morning concert by the Anif brass band (Musikkapelle Anif) and the Mooswiesner Tanzlmusi, this Kirtag has something for young and old alike.

A Weekend Steeped in Tradition
Sunday, the final day of the festival, is always dedicated to the village’s traditions. After the church service celebrating the parish’s patron saint, the Anif brass band strikes up the traditional Kirtag Frühschoppen at 11 a.m. Following the modern summer night party of the evening before, guests can now enjoy village conviviality and wonderful brass music, along with hearty local food and drink. Every year, the weekend comes to a close with the traditional “Anifer Stecken Tanz” (Anif Stick Dance).

In short: anyone visiting Anif in August should mark the Kirtag in red on their calendar. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget, and just thinking back on it will put a smile on your face time and again.
