Discover Anif

So green, so personal, so close at every time of year

Anif lies in the green south of Salzburg – right next door to Mozart’s city, yet pleasantly peaceful. An independent municipality with a village feel, welcoming hosts and plenty of nature, it’s just a short hop from culture, business, day trips and experiences.

Between town and country, tradition and modernity, nature and culture. In Anif, you’ll spend your stay not in the hustle and bustle of Austria’s world-famous cultural city, but close enough to discover its highlights anew every day.

Ideal starting point to Salzburg

Personal hosts, excellent gastronomy and good public transport connections make Anif a pleasant place for holidays, stopovers and business stays in the region. Thanks to the Guest Mobility Ticket SalzburgLand, which you will receive at your chosen accommodation, you can travel free of charge on public transport from your first night onwards. And after the day? You will once again find the green south waiting for you to unwind.

Over the years, Anif has been home to numerous figures from the worlds of art and culture. These include Herbert von Karajan, actresses Susi Nicoletti and Louise Martini, painter Helene von Taussig, and conductor Riccardo Muti.

A village with its own history

On a walk through Anif, you’ll encounter historic wayside crosses, the parish church from the 12th century and the grave of conductor Herbert von Karajan. The Anif water castle also shapes the village’s appearance. As it is privately owned, it is not open to the public. Living traditions, traditional events and numerous activities enrich life in Anif throughout the year.

Anif and its hosts

Personal hospitality and honest culinary delight characterise the accommodation and catering establishments in our community.

Between city and nature

Anif lies like a green island surrounded by meadows and fields. The Salzach river, the view of the Untersberg as a hiking paradise, and the proximity to forest, water and mountains create the stage for sporting activities and moments in nature. Everything is possible: set off straight away, start cycling, or simply breathe in Salzburg’s green south.

A village community that welcomes guests

The character of the region reveals itself while walking, looking around and lingering. Maypole festival, fair, harvest festival, concerts and Krampus events regularly bring the village together. Guests are not merely spectators. Many festivals take place right in the heart of the village and invite you to get to know Anif from its personal and lively side.

Anif is located in the green south of Salzburg, right near the city of Salzburg. The place combines quiet living in the countryside with short distances to the city of Mozart, to Hellbrunn, to the Untersberg and to excursion destinations in the surrounding area.

Yes. Anif is a very good starting point for a Salzburg holiday. You stay quieter than in the city and can still reach culture, sights, museums, festivals, shopping and business locations quickly and easily.
